As a result of Chile’s 8.8 magnitude earthquake there was some violent surge in San Diego Bay. Several boats broke free of their moorings and several dock cleats were ripped out. The Bali Hai dock has a section missing and several pieces of it were floating around America Cup Harbor. The surge at our slip was about 8 knots as water rushed under our boat.

Wedding on the Water - It was a great day as friends of San Diego Boat Tours were married on the water. The actual wedding took place in Glorietta Bay, by the hotel Del Coronado. As the couple exchanged vows boats glided by shouting and blowing their horns to wish the couple well.

It was a great day. People had been telling me that there were a lot of whales being seen this year. It looks like they were correct. We probably saw about 7 that afternoon. One came up about 15 feet from the boat. It would have made a great picture, but everyone was so surprised, they did not have time to get a picture. Please see our Whale Watching tours.
